Lumaverse Technologies: K-12 Schools Build Community Connections With Lumaverse Technologies
Launched in 2020 by the team behind SignUpGenius, America’s leading sign up tool, Lumaverse Technologies boasts a comprehensive set of community engagement and event management tools designed specifically for K-12 and nonprofit organizations. From simple volunteer sign up forms to security compliant course registration tools, Lumaverse Technologies makes it easier to bring groups together, virtually or in person.
"Our solution helps communities come together to have a collaborative experience," says Mike Barros, CEO of Lumaverse Technologies. “Our mission is to build simplicity into software that leads to increased engagement, data-driven insights and streamlined group management for any organization.”
Building on the popularity of SignUpGenius among K-12 users, Lumaverse Technologies combines SignUpGenius with software that solves volunteer, member, event, and fundraising management challenges. It entails an exhaustive (and growing) range of group management features including online sign-ups, online appointment scheduling, course registration, membership management, volunteer management, donor management, fundraising, and crowdfunding. For the K-12 audience, Lumaverse solutions make it easier to: coordinate parent-teacher conferences, virtual and in person school meetings, raise money through crowdfunding, arrange school lunch and Chromebook distribution during shutdowns, and register teachers and staff for mandatory training.
Lumaverse has security and compliance features to protect parent and student information; as well as built-in reporting and data insights to help organizers understand how parents, students, and the community interact with the school.

Furthermore, it reduces the administrative burden of managing multiple systems. “There is a whole host of activities in every K-12 school, activities that run parallel to classroom activities. Our solution makes it easier for anyone, volunteer or employee, to manage these details, freeing up their time to do higher-value activities,” Peggy Liao, Director of Marketing at the company.
To keep up with the changing needs of its users, Lumaverse regularly conducts one-on-one customer interviews, proactively sets product strategy calls, and collects customer feedback via email on a regular basis. This agility came in handy at the start of COVID-19: when the team realized most events were moving online, they built a Zoom integration so organizers could point attendees to a video conference directly from any sign up or email. Another recent feature addition: Portal Pages, which give schools the ability to use their specific school colors and logos to promote events and activities on a branded web page.
Last year, Lumaverse Technologies touched 145 million participants, parents, teachers, and students in the US. Heading into the next year, Lumaverse will invest heavily in R&D to continue building and enhancing community engagement solutions. The company also plans to enhance the use of SIS, LMS, and the advancement and development systems that help schools share data across the network to bring down administrative burdens ultimately. As part of its roadmap, Lumaverse will continue to join forces with other organizations to drive business growth.
